Debby Boyd is a native of South Central Idaho and grew up fishing the nation's finest trout waters, including world famous Silver Creek. She calls the banks of the Big Wood River her home and spends hundreds of hours a year fishing its waters. Debby is a licensed guide and has taught countless numbers of anglers the nuances of casting fly rods and catching fish.

Being a resident of the Wood River Valley, Debby enjoys the perks of being able to guide a plethora of spring creeks, freestone rivers and tailwaters alike. A true product of the Rocky Mountains she is a rarity in that she guides the rivers she grew up on. Whether it’s a summertime Trico spinner fall, or dead of winter Midge hatches, she can keep her clients on the fish and describe her Idaho surroundings like only a true daughter of the river can.

Scott Rods builds Debby’s fly rod of choice, four and five weights are her tools, and wild Rainbow Trout her game. If you ask her why Scott is her rod of choice, she will say, “It’s the uniqueness of a Scott’s smooth action and the aesthetic quality of the rod itself.” With this professional attitude and sincere nature, it’s no wonder so many people want to learn to fish the fly under her tutelage.

Debby is on the front lines of guiding these days and participates in the fastest growing area of the sport, challenging women and children to step front and center into the stream and into the world of long rods, rising fish and gorgeous outings. The joy of teaching fly fishing, for Debby, is realized each and every day when she looks at her angler and says, “Time to go” and they in turn respond with, “O.K. One more cast!” Of course one more cast, and then one more after that…
