“A family that casts together stays together”, that’s our motto!! Casting and fly-fishing takes center stage in most all that we do. To some it may seem a little fanatical, but we have made this sport of casting a fly our lifestyle. We have constructed a (sportsman show style), casting pond in our back yard, for practice and teaching. 20’x 80’, complete with lights for night time practice, and a full compliment of targets, hoops, and obstacles to cast to, and around. The pond has paid big dividends as we try to take as much of what we learn about more technical presentation casts that we practice, to the streams and rivers in our area.

Not exactly born and raised in a fly fishing/casting Mecca – Western Nebraska - I’m pleased to be included within the Scott Fly Rod family. I started fly casting and fishing in Nebraska at a fairly young age. Living in a farming, ranching community, it seemed no matter where we lived, my parents always made sure water was near, and I thank them for that! Much of what I have learned about fly-fishing took place on a small, warm water stream, filled with what might be considered un-glamorous species of fish. They came readily to a fly, so a fly fisherman was born.

Many years have past since then. Casting instruction became a passion. Certified as an instructor through the Federation of Flyfishers, and accepting a Casting Program Directorship with a local fly fishing club, The Pikes Peak Flyfishers, has allowed me to share all that I have learned, and I’m glad to do so.
